We meet Heather and Jacob who had a winter wedding at Wood Hall Hotel & Spa in Yorkshire, with lots of little 'mini character' touches.

"We’d been looking at various wedding venues in the Wetherby area prior to attending the Wood Hall wedding showcase but none of them had felt quite right. When we first went to view Wood Hall Hotel & Spa however there was an instant ‘wow factor’ from the second we turned down the sweeping drive which really does take your breath away. The hotel itself is stunning, the wedding coordinators incredibly friendly and helpful and the fact that we could have the whole venue on an exclusive basis was the icing on the cake. We knew from the outset that we would have a truly wonderful wedding day at Wood Hall and that our family and friends would also love the venue.

We were drawn to the idea of a winter wedding because of the opportunity to feature lots of rich colours such as burgundy and gold, so this formed the basis of our colour scheme. We spent a lot of time making decorations and painting fir cones which formed the centrepieces of the tables along with lots of candles and twinkly fairy lights. Bringing a quirky touch to the day we had a ‘Super Mario’ theme to the wedding stationery and table plans, and also had some mini characters from the famous video game series scattered across the tables.

My tea length dress, ‘Sarah’ by House of Mooshki, came from Lace & Co Bridal Boutique in Horbury. The service provided was second to none from trying on lots of beautiful, individual dresses through the final fitting.

Flowers were provided by Serendipity Floral Design whose work we first saw at a Wood Hall Wedding showcase.

We would highly recommend our photographer Luke Holroyd who did an amazing job capturing the day in a creative and imaginative yet natural style. He was there from the moment the sun rose through to well into the evening reception and made everyone feel really at ease.

Our DJ was from Elite Sound who also provided us with a beautiful light up dance floor and ‘LOVE’ letters. They did a great job keeping everyone dancing right through to the early hours.

Yorkshire Booth Brothers provided our photobooth which was very popular with guests of all ages.

My sister Jennie designed our brilliant and original wedding stationery and table plans.

We couldn’t have been happier with the service provided by the Wood Hall team. Kevin did an incredible job managing the day, ensuring that everything ran to plan and that every little detail was just right. Thanks to this we felt relaxed and able to really enjoy the day, comfortable in the knowledge that our big day was in very safe hands.

The food received so many compliments with the Yorkshire puddings a particular hit! I hope for a repeat visit one day so I can sample more of the wonderful, diverse menu.

It’s very hard to choose our favourite part of the day as the whole day was so brilliant from start to finish! The ceremony was a very special experience and the Vavasour Suite made the perfect setting for taking our vows. A string quartet made up of friends provided beautiful music throughout the ceremony and the drinks reception. Jacob was surprised when the quartet played us out of the ceremony with the theme from Back To The Future, his favourite film!. The wedding breakfast was fab, it was great to be able to sit down and enjoy a wonderful meal with our nearest and dearest after a very busy morning and the speeches were moving and hilarious in equal measure. In the evening the most memorable moment was when we all braved the cold to light sparklers outside the front of the hotel which made for some very beautiful photographs!
