Providing a romantic and secluded setting in Surrey, yet easily accessible from London, Nutfield Priory Hotel is one of the county’s most beautiful places to tie the knot, as Philippa and Gavin can testify.

Despite being one of the first venues that Philippa and Gavin visited they knew almost instantly that they need not book any more viewings. “As soon as we arrived at Nutfield Priory we were struck by how beautiful and scenic it was. Set high in the Tandridge district of Surrey the views are amazing. We fell in love immediately, and upon entering the venue we were greeted in a very friendly manner and well looked after.” explained Philippa.

What ultimately sealed the deal for them however was speaking to a couple who had just tied the knot and were checking out. “They had nothing but good to say,” adds Philippa, “so we went with our gut and decided to book a date.”

As with all of Hand Picked venues, wedding fayres are regularly held to give couples the chance to meet their local recommended suppliers. For Philippa and Gavin it proved really helpful and they went with a number of Nutifeld’s favourite vendors, including Gorgeous Gem's Bakery for their cake and Willows of Reigate for their flowers. “Gem’s cakes are to die for and beautifully designed, you get freebies to take away with you when sampling her cakes, too, which is always a perk for us.”

“Talking of food, everything served up by Nutfield was perfect from the canapés through to the buffet in the evening, but I digress going back to the flowers. Willows were actually provided as part of our wedding package however we also used them for our bridal and church flowers. They really listen to what you are after and help you with the design.”

When it came to other parts of the décor, the pair decided to opt for a white and silver/grey theme. “Gavin and I didn't want to take away the beauty and grandness of the hotel and felt the colours suited it quite well. We are both simplistic people and were looking for an elegant style. We wanted this to come out in the photos, too, and despite the fact we were so fussy, Jonathan Griffiths of Mr Shutterbug Photography, was amazing. Our photos are truly stunning.”

One piece of sound advice Philippa has for any future bride reading this is to have a toastmaster. “If you are debating whether to have a toastmaster or not, please, just say yes. Throughout the day you will not have to worry about a thing, and you are told where to go and what is next. Our one also kept the guests in check if one too many drinks were had.”

So, what was the best part of the day for our couple? “That’s difficult, the whole day was magical for us, from the very beginning right through to the end – the staff were so attentive and would do anything to help. We both didn't want the day to end. In fact, the service was outstanding and that’s probably what helped to make our day so special.”
