Hotel accessibility

At Stanbrook Abbey Hotel we treat our guests as individuals and therefore we have a range of facilities catering for people of all abilities. The hotel does have 2 lifts which access all floors.

Pre arrival

  • Prior to arrival guests can speak with a member of the reservations team in order to confirm requirements and general suitability of Stanbrook Abbey

  • All restaurants can cater for special dietary requirements on prior request (gluten free, lactose free, nut free, vegetarian, vegan) other dietary requirements may be catered for with prior discussion
  • All meals can be cut up for ease of eating, food may also be pureed/thickened if needed in all restaurants
  • 24h in room dining is available should you wish to eat from the comfort of your room


  • Our Refectory Restaurant is accessible by wheelchair, please ask a member of staff for assistance 

Gardens and grounds

  • Accessible by wheelchair via the main entrance 
  • Steps are in some areas, but wheelchair access is available to most areas
  • Gravel, slabbed and wood chip pathways
  • Front garden is wheelchair accessible
  • The Garth and Lavender Garden is wheelchair accessible with ramps
  • Several areas throughout grounds have accessible seating areas
  • Willow Lake is not wheelchair accessible due to wood chippings and grass 

General accessibility

  • Staff are on hand to assist 24 hours a day
  • Emergency evacuation procedure for guests requiring assistance (please notify on arrival if assistance on evacuation needed)
  • Assistance dogs accepted with prior notice
  • In accordance with legislation smoking is not permitted in the hotel and this includes E-cigs
  • Mobile phone signal with most providers is strong in the area
  • The fire alarm system is bells, sirens and flashing lights. Assistance is given with evacuation if necessary
  • The bells and sirens will ring continuously if evacuation is needed if you require assistance for evacuation please notify us on arrival
