Lord Nelson Room

Great Briton Lord Nelson came to Bath to rest during leave from military service – and now you can rest too in this feature bedroom that shares his name. The Lord Nelson is situated at the end of a private corridor of the Mansion House and is decorated with blue textiles and artworks depicting maritime scenes and of course the great man himself. 

Lord Nelson, like many military figures at the time, came to Bath to gather his strength during naval service. His father had retired to Bath and Nelson is known to have returned in 1780 and subsequently in 1797 to seek advice on the treatment of the stump on his arm. The restorative powers of the Bath Spa and the lure of society drew him here and he took up residence at 2 Pierpont Street.
