In partnership with Strictly Jane Austen Tours, guests are invited to experience Bath as a city shaped by literature and imagination.

Jane Austen lived in Bath and set Persuasion here, drawing on its social rituals and architecture. The city was also home to Ann Radcliffe, whose Gothic fiction shaped the literary imagination of the era, and later to Mary Shelley, who completed Frankenstein during her stay. These layered histories are explored through a structured private walking tour led by an expert guide, whether following in Austen’s footsteps, uncovering Bath’s Gothic atmosphere at twilight, or visiting key filming locations from Bridgerton alongside insight into Regency society and architecture.

The experience pairs naturally with a stay at Bailbrook House: time spent in the city followed by a return to landscaped grounds and relaxed country house surroundings.

• Day Experience: Available for hotel guests, choose from one of three private 2.5-hour walking tours:
• Walking in Jane Austen’s Footsteps: (morning or afternoon) explores the crescents, assembly rooms and social settings that shaped Austen’s time in Bath, with context on Georgian society and the locations featured in her work
• Gothic Bath at Twilight - (4.00pm start to capture the changing light) examines the city’s dramatic architecture and literary connections to the Gothic tradition
• Bridgerton in Bath - exploring key filming locations, pairing recognisable settings with insight into Regency society, architecture detail and how faithfully the screen reflects the period
• Regency costume hire: Tailored full period attire delivered directly to Bailbrook House, fitted to submitted measurements, available for up to six days and includes laundering (guests provide their own footwear)

• Overnight Experience: Private tour combined with one night’s stay at Bailbrook House, with optional costume hire delivered to the hotel
