We meet Katie and Luke who decided to host their wedding at Wood Hall Hotel & Spa in Yorkshire because from the moment they arrived they all had 'that feeling'.

"I always had where I wanted to get married in my mind, but that changed the moment we arrived at Wood Hall, Luke and both our parents had exactly the same feeling too. From the friendly team opening the front door to great us as we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome and couldn’t do enough for us.

The drive up to Wood Hall is an experience of it’s own, and the building itself is beautiful. Once we had seen Wood Hall we knew that it would be hard to beat and it was; which made our venue decision very easy, especially knowing that we were able to have Wood Hall exclusively to ourselves, made it perfect.

We decided on few colours for the theme of our wedding; pale pink and navy blue. We also had nod to London as we spent a lot of time down there when we first got together and it will always be a special place to us. We didn’t want to go too novelty with the theme though, so we used London places for our table names and our seating plan and we had the same London image on our menu cards. We also had London bus biscuits for our favours.

We had lots of brilliant suppliers:

Our florist, who we found through a Wood Hall open day, Angie Walker, was fantastic. She created exactly what we wanted and nothing was too much trouble.

Our cake makers, The Blossom Tree Cake co, were also amazing. The cakes were another level to what we had seen before, and not only look amazing but they tasted incredible too.

Our photographers, M & G Photographic were exactly what we wanted. Neither of us enjoy posing too much so we wanted natural photographers to follow our day and they did exactly that. We also had a video which has given us the most precious memories. The photos are amazing but the video has us in tears every time we watch it as it takes us right back to our special day.

My wedding dress supplier was also brilliant, I used Perfect Daze in Scissett, Huddersfield, which is close to where Luke’s parents live. Emma knew as soon as I arrived which dress would suit me most. It wasn’t what I had in mind so I tried on lots of others before coming back to the dress she immediately chose for me. It was just perfect, and although it wasn’t what I was thinking, it was exactly what I wanted. Both my mum and Luke’s mum cried so I just knew it was my dress.

The Colour Blue were our band/DJ and the two guys were brilliant, we also met them at a Wood Hall open day. We had a different request for our first dance song, and when put on the spot they were able to play it exactly how we imagined without any practice so we knew they were a brilliant choice.

The Biscuit Bakers made our favours - London Bus biscuits, which were just amazing. They looked and tasted brilliant, and they even piped names onto them so we were able to use them as place names too.

We also used Something New Wedding Planner and stylist, Amy, for any extra decorative touches. She was just amazing, her stock is beautiful and really added to our day. She even moved decorative items from the church to Wood Hall without us even knowing, can’t recommend her highly enough.

Our car supplier, Cupid Carriages, were also brilliant, the car was stunning and the driver was lovely.

The service on our wedding day was second to none, from meeting Elizabeth before the big day and planning all the small details, it was a great relief to know that she would be at Wood Hall on our big day. We knew immediately that we were in good hands. As we arrived after our service, we were greeted so warmly and wished a special day from the hotel manager which was also a nice touch. The food was beautiful, we had a lot of comments from guests saying how good the food was!
We really can’t praise the staff enough, everyone was so friendly and helpful, and we were really made to feel that nothing was too much trouble.

The best part of our day is really difficult to choose, the whole day was perfect. From arriving at the church and the wedding service itself to celebrating in the afternoon and evening with our friends we couldn’t have been happier. Special highlights for us though were the drive into Wood Hall, the view is just stunning and something we will never forget.
