Nestled within beautifully landscaped gardens, Fawsley Hall’s award-winning Knightley Court is an entirely exclusive venue perfect for a wedding, breakfast and evening reception

If you are looking for a UK wedding venue that is truly unique and special then Fawsley Hall’s Knightley Court in Northamptonshire is perfect. This stunningly refurbished Georgian building can be yours for the day keeping you separate from the rest of the hotel, and is licenced for wedding ceremonies and civil partnerships with its own dedicated Valentines Room, together with the elegant Saunders Room for your wedding breakfast and Stables Bar, which is ideal for the reception. It also boasts eight beautifully decorated bedrooms for those faraway guests that do not want to worry about the long drive home. There is even a private cinema – perfect for keeping younger guests entertained, or for screening photographs of the day to your evening guests.

For Chloe and Sam – both 27 years of age from the nearby village of Wollaston – it was their dream venue. “Knightley court is a very classy and elegant setting, and the layout is perfect; it made our day feel very intimate despite the fact that we had 70 guests at the ceremony and then a further 50 guests at the reception.

We also fell in love with the grounds.” Surrounded by formal gardens and extensive grounds landscaped by Capability Brown in the 1760s, they are not the only people to fall for Fawsley Hall's charms. In fact, once a former Royal Manor (dating back as far as the 7th century), Queen Elizabeth I was once a visitor and her chamber with its vaulted ceilings, grand ornate fireplace and luxurious four-poster bed, is the most sought-after of the 60 rooms in the hotel itself.

Teeming in history, the rooms, as one might expect, are charming in their own right, but they also offer a suitably neutral canvas for couples to create their own look. Chloe and Sam decided to go for a colour scheme of blush pink, dove grey and rose gold to set a romantic tone. “The pink and grey really complemented each other while the gold added a glamorous touch to the decor. All of the decorations including the table numbers, place cards, menus, napkins and order of the day fans – which were all from this really cool creative stationary brand Eagle Eyed Bride – were co-ordinated to match the colour scheme. For our wedding favours, we had blush pink macaroons with our initials painted on in rose gold.”

The attire was also inspired by the colour scheme with the bridesmaids and groomsmen both in light grey, perfectly contrasted with pink accessories. “I was in a long-sleeved, lace, A-line dress while Sam was in a black tuxedo, we felt like a million dollars. Every part of our day was absolutely magical, but the best part had to be walking down the aisle and saying ‘I do’.”

When it came to the food, the head chef worked with the couple through a private menu tasting to help them decide on their three-course menu. “It really added a special touch to the planning of our wedding,” added Sam. “In the end we went for Brixworth pate with brioche and spiced plum chutney to start, roast corn-fed chicken with creamy mash, button mushrooms and French beans for our main and for desert New York cheesecake with blackcurrant mascarpone. For our evening buffet we had a hog roast, which went down very well with our guests.”

“Talking of the food tasting, the service that we received from the team at Fawsley Hall – throughout the planning of our wedding right up until our special day – was outstanding,” commented Chloe. “The staff were friendly and professional at all times. Everything on our wedding day ran timely and smoothly, even the guests commented on how amazing the service was.

“Our wedding planner was always available for questions and suggestions. She also helped with recommending many of our suppliers including an outstanding florist, photographer, DJ and a firework company who managed to put on a display choreographed to music, which was simply breath-taking and the perfect finale to our wedding, which was exactly ten years to the day we met.”

It seems rather apt then that the song for their first dance was ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran. “Our day was exactly that,” said Chloe. “The venue was exquisite, the setting was idyllic and the food and service faultless. There is nothing that we would change if we were to do it again.”
