Preparation method

1. Sieve dry ingredients.

2. Melt butter and syrup in a sauce pan.

3. Mix the eggs and milk.

4. Now slowly mix butter and syrup into the dry ingredients.

5. Then add milk and mix until smooth paste forms.

6. Put into buttered and floured moulds.

7. Now cook at 160oc for 15 to 20 minutes.

8. Half way through this time, cover with tin foil.

9. Finally, turn out and serve.


Presentation

Best served with ice cream or cream!

  • 337g self-raising flour.
  • 165g brown sugar.
  • 1.5 tsp ground ginger.
  • 1.5 tsp bicarbonate of soda.
  • 3 eggs.
  • 82g butter.
  • 75g golden syrup.
  • 90g black treacle.
  • 300ml milk.
