Short Riverside Walk:
This walk will take around 30 minutes, Martin our Concierge recently created this walk for guests to enjoy visiting the river Wharfe and is a great way to see views of Wood Hall Hotel & Spa. If you're lucky you may even spot the otters in the river or the red kites circling above.
Leave the hotel heading down the hill using the main drive. At the bottom, by the bridge and key box you will see a cut path on the right hand side.
Follow this with the river Wharfe beneath you on your left and fence on the right. Along here was the site of the original Wood Hall which was demolished in the English Civil War. Over to the right you can see the walled garden and further on surrounded by trees the remains of the cricket pavilion from the days when Wood Hall was a boy's prep school (1935-1965).
Continue on until you arrive at a metal gate, go through the gate and follow the high viz sign (diagonally across field). Take care near the path as some wire is protruding.
At the time of writing this walk the bridge is closed due to damage caused in the winter floods.
Turn right and follow the path uphill until you reach a gate, this path is part of the Ebor way which is a 75 mile walk starting in Helmsley and finishing at Ilkley in North Yorkshire.
Go through the gate and turn right onto the concrete footpath follow this path until you reach another gate, which is by the walled garden. Go through this gate and up the path passing the house and Carmelite Monastery on the left, arriving back at the hotel.
