Functional Training & Activio Heart Rate Training at Rookery



We are excited to announce our new Functional Fitness Zone/ Activio Heart Rate Training Features at Rookery.
The Rookery Hall Functional Fitness Zone will make use of the existing studio space, outside of class times, to give you access to the latest Functional Training Equipment including: TRX, ViPR, Sandbells, Plyometrics, Sparring, Powerbags, Battle Ropes and Kettlebells.
Functional Fitness benefits BOTH sexes and ALL ages! Functional Training is using movement, exercises and equipment to train the body for the activities performed in daily life.
With the use of heart rate monitors, our Activio Heart Rate sessions project user’s heart rates and training zones onto a wall mounted screen. These are anonymous so only the user will know which heart rate is their own. Throughout the session the instructor can guide the class through specific heart rate training zones to assist in all aspect of fitness from speed, endurance, strength and power!
Initially, the heart rate training system will be utilised for Spinning, but eventually we will add more specific heart rate training classes for members to participate in and enjoy.

Fitness Move of the Month

Dumbbell Shoulder Press


Position the dumbbells to each side of the shoulders with your elbows below your wrists. 


Press the dumbbells upward until the arms are extended overhead. Lower to the sides of the shoulders and repeat.
