Be Involved
At Hand Picked Hotels, we have developed our Corporate Social Responsibility activities to involve our team members, our local community and our guests.
When staying with us, guests can choose if and how they would like to be involved. This can be anything from indulging with the best of produce from our local suppliers and our gardens, re-energising with a walk in the grounds or local area, to supporting our efforts with recycling and energy management.
We welcome suggestions or comments on our policy and how we are implementing it and if you have any questions during your stay, then please just ask at Reception.
Here’s a taste of how you can Be Involved during your stay. Click on the links for articles about our hotel activities.
Food and Drink Try the Lighthorne lamb, farmed at Lighthorne 7 miles from the hotel. Why not visit their farm shop; using our bikes of course!
Try the Jams, Marmalade and Curds from Talton Mill which is only a 15 minute walk from us
Try our local beer, the Hook Norton range, from our bar. The Hook Norton Brewery is 150 years old and is one of only 32 remaining independent, family-run breweries in the UK today
Grounds & Gardens Visit the herb garden. If you’d like to take home some herbs home just ask at reception.
Spot wildlife on the grounds. You are very likely to see both Munjac and Fallow Deer. Look out for the bird feeding tables and stations around our grounds. See how many birds you can spot and name
Take a look at the magnificent Cedar of Lebanon tree by the church. It’s over 23 metres tall with a 1.2 meter diameter!
Sponsor a fruit tree. For £500.00 we will dedicate a newly planted fruit tree in your name. The package includes a one night dinner, bed & breakfast stay in a suite and the following day, you will see your tree planted and a plaque unveiled.
Energy Saving and the Environment Hand Picked hotels is proud to have achieved Carbon trust Standard status. You can support our commitment and contribute to reducing carbon emissions by; • Turning off the master switch when leaving your room • Switching off the lights, TV and heating sources when not needed
The bag your newspapers are delivered in is bio-degradable; leave us your paper for recycling
Too much rubbish in your car? Let’s recycle. Hand your paper, cans and plastic bottles in at reception
