Local cheeses: Y FENNI
Takes its name from the Welsh town in which it is made. Each cheese is made from mature cheddar cheese blended with whole-grain mustard and Welsh ale. It has a full tangy mustard flavour, moist texture, pale-yellow colouring speckled with the mustard grains.
STILTON
In the 1900 Stilton makers formed themselves into an association to control how and where the cheese should be made. Stilton can only be made in the counties of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire. The rind of good Stilton exudes wonderful aromas of cellars, stone walls and moulds. The taste should suggest old leather, dark chocolate and an intense spicy ‘blue’ quality, with a hint of white wine and herbs. A perfect accompaniment to a glass of fine Port.
TINTERN
Tintern takes its name from the Abbey, built by “The White Monks of Tintern” who farmed shallots in the Abbey grounds. Tintern is a blend of Welsh matured Cheddar with fresh chives and shallots; Tintern has a smooth, creamy texture
HARLECH
Harlech, which takes its name from the famous Welsh Warriors of the Middle Ages, is a blend of Welsh Cheddar with chopped horseradish and parsley, it has a unique character with smooth texture.
Freshly squeezed or brewed
Of equal importance as food at breakfast is hydrating for the day. We serve freshly squeezed fruit juices, individual cafetières for coffee and tea pots with a selection of fine teas to order. You will also find bottled mineral water available.
