Ashdown Forest organises orienteering weekends, model plane flying and informative walks. The area was the landscape which inspired A.A Milne's Winnie the Pooh stories and its not hard, walking across the heath with the sun lighting up the golden grasses, yellow gorse and green oaks to imagine why.

 Hartfield
The small village of Hartfield nearby is home to the Gallipot Pub, a 16th century Inn with excellent Sunday Roast including a delicious vegetarian nut roast and selection of veggie quiches and salads. The pub itself has a great back garden over-looking fields upon fields of fat white bullocks and gentle hills. There's the Winnie the Pooh shop and tea room next door.
 Bluebell Railway
The volunteer run Bluebell Line was the UK's first preserved standard gauge passenger railway, re-opening part of the Lewes to East Grinstead line of the old London Brighton & South Coast Railway in 1960. Since then it has developed into one of the largest tourist attractions in Sussex, yet it still remains true to its objectives of the preservation for posterity of a country branch line, its steam locomotives, coaches and goods stock, signalling systems, stations and operating practices.
